Pete Who?

Pete Who? A question you may well be asking yourself if you’re not an oldie or a complete music buff, but Pete Waterman has been a very influential man in the world of music for many, many years. He’s so far achieved twenty two UK number one singles with bands as varied at Bananarama, Kylie Minogue, Steps, Donna Summer, Jason Donovan and Cliff Richard to name a few.

The reason we’re talking about him today is that unfortunately a concert, “The Hit Factory – The Soundtrack To A Generation”, celebrating 25 years of his record label PWL set to take place this week in Hyde Park has been cancelled.

Apparently Hyde Park’s grass took such a hammering with last week’s downpours and the thousands of dancing feet which attended Wireless Festival that it simply wasn’t safe to host the event. It’s a huge shame considering firstly his massive achievement in staying ahead of the game for so long in such an ever changing industry and also because the line up looked pretty incredible.

London missed out on a stage filled with Steps, Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Dead Or Alive, Rick Astley, 2 Unlimited and Sinitta which is a combination you don’t hear of every day!

It’s always a shame when 25 years of someone’s hard work gets washed down the drain, luckily for Pete though this happened only to the concert and not his £30 million fortune.

I guess you deserve £30 million though if you’ve got the ability to spot potential in Steps!
